Hello everyone! I’m Draven. Long time visitor, brand new employee.
I sent a suggestion through the Cryptidery website saying that if they’re doing the online thing they need to be on social media. Then Maria asked if I was looking for a job, since I obviously know more about social media than her. I’m not an expert, but I have been using it since I was… lets just say 13, that’s when you’re supposed to start using social media, right? (Kids, don’t use social media unless your parents say it’s ok. And pay attention to those internet safety rules.)
So… ya. I honestly wasn’t really looking for a job, but I love this place. Pre-covid I spent a lot of my free time at the Cryptidery. I was probably one of the first people to visit every new exhibit in the last 10 years or so. I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to see what goes on behind the scenes at my favourite tourist trap. And hey, it’s covid, what else am I doing? My mom is thrilled to hear that I might have a reason to leave the house sometimes and not always be tethered to my computer.
Maria is super serious about the whole isolation thing though. She won’t let me in the building until I’ve isolated for 2 weeks. And then I can’t go anywhere public, not even the grocery store, if I want to go back without waiting another 2 weeks. Luckily my mom’s been working from home and ordering groceries delivered.
You probably won’t see me posting here on the blog much. But I’ve got us all set up on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. Go ahead and follow us there and I’ll make sure you know about everything going on at the Cryptidery. You might find me lurking in the comments around here too, answering questions when the rest of the staff is too busy taking care of creatures and such. It’s weird talking about myself as one of the staff, but I guess I am staff now, lol.
Later everybody! I’d give you a goodbye hug but we’re supposed to stay 6 feet apart
Draven
